Picking the new Colour of the Year is a responsible job. Over the years, Pantone’s Colour of the Year has proved to influence purchasing decisions in multiple industries, like fashion, industrial design and floristry!
A great example was 2015’s Colour of the Year, Marsala. We doubt whether any bride has felt inspired by brown or muddy red tones before 2015. But now – four seasons later – we are blessed with Marsala coloured flowers to satisfy our brides. However, last year’s Ultra Violet was less popular, which proves Pantone’s Colour of the Year to be Hot or Not.
The process of picking the new colour, therefore, requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. According to Pantone, ‘Living Coral’ represents the fusion of modern life, providing comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.

Luckily for the flower industry, flowers are already widely available in this vibrant yet mellow colour. Below we will list some of our Living Coral favourites:
- Hypericum is a deciduous shrub with star-shaped yellow flowers. However, they are known for their berries, which are available in different colours including Pantone’s Living Coral.
- Gladiolus is always an impressive flower to uphold. Their graceful spires and the wide variety of colours make gladioli the perfect choice for large-scale flower arrangements.
- The Ranunculus is the right decision for everyone who wants to celebrate spring. These beautiful flowers are able to grow in the vase, which further enhances the feeling of spring.
- Chrysanthemums are typical autumn bloomers and available in many shapes and colours, including the Colour of the Year 2019. The flower symbolises luck and health, which makes it a perfect gift.
- Carnations are available year round and due to her bright colours, a striking appearance. They have petals with rounded, serrated or fringed edges. Carnations last for several weeks and are edible too.
